XRP News: Liquidity Increases as Ripple Grows, but Price Remains Stagnant

In today’s XRP news, Ripple filed two new trademark applications in the United States covering treasury operations, prime brokerage, hedge fund management, and securities lending, in addition to a $500 million Wall Street funding round that valued the company at around $40 billion, and yet the price of XRP remains stuck in a months-long range that has frustrated retail investors watching the company grow around them.

The story of title expansion is real. The price of inaction is just as real. The actual implication is more nuanced than either side wants to admit.

This article explains why on-chain liquidity and institutional infrastructure can increase simultaneously while the spot price remains stable, and what specific catalysts should trigger before the two lines converge.

These two new trademark requests from Ripple come as XRP fell -0.5% overnight, with the asset currently trading at $1.33, daily trading volume at $1.4 billion, and a market cap of $82.2 billion.

XRP News: What Does Ripple’s Institutional Expansion Really Signal for XRP USD?

Ripple is evolving from a payments startup to a full-stack financial services provider, as indicated by its trademark filings encompassing stock brokerage, derivatives and risk management.

Ripple Payments, formerly known as On-Demand Liquidity, has processed over $100 billion in value, using XRP as a bridging asset for real-time cross-border transactions.

Ripple Prime’s integration with EDX Markets improves institutional clients’ access to spot liquidity and futures, which Michael Higgins, CEO of Ripple Prime, describes as a critical infrastructure upgrade.

However, this development does not automatically increase the buying pressure of the XRP market, much like building a highway with no immediate traffic. On-chain liquidity flows primarily through institutional channels, often bypassing retail exchanges.

Notably, XRP liquidity on Binance has declined since 2025, reflecting a change in market-making activities, notably following the launch of the XRP spot ETF by Canary Capital Group.

The resolution of the SEC lawsuit in August 2025, in which Ripple paid a $125 million penalty and confirmed that XRP sales are not securities, removed a significant regulatory hurdle for U.S. institutions.

While this clarity is vital for long-term adoption, it does not generate immediate speculative momentum, highlighting a disconnect between Ripple’s growth and short-term market activity.

In today's XRP news, Ripple ETFs and liquidity are booming, but analysts are wondering why the price remains stagnant.

Can XRP Price Break Out or Will the Utility-Speculation Gap Persist?

In other XRP news, the central tension is that crypto utility and price appreciation are not the same and do not always move together, especially in the short term. Transactional demand for XRP, driven by banks using it for settlements in regions like Singapore and Latin America, contrasts with speculative demand from retail buyers.

Ripple’s aggressive M&A strategy, which involved nearly $4 billion in acquisitions in 2025, and partnerships such as the $200 million credit facility with Standard Chartered signal long-term infrastructure growth rather than immediate price changes.

Three potential scenarios are described:

Case of the bull: New payment corridors and ETF approvals are driving growth in XRP volume and institutional demand.

Reference case: Ripple is forming partnerships while the price remains stable and speculative interest is low.

Bear case: Pilots fail to generate volume, liquidity shifts away from retail, and the narrative of XRP’s usefulness diverges from price trends.

Institutional trust can exist without driving up prices, which would cause a disconnect that could frustrate some holders.
