Ethereum Justin Drake’s researcher revealed the Proposal “Lean Ethereum” On July 31, which reframed the base layer around the imperatives of survival against threats and quantum performance gains in the nation state and performance orders without sacrificing decentralization.
The new guidelines have been nicknamed “strong fashion” and “beast fashion” respectively.
Published on the blog of the Ethereum Foundation, The Vision has argued that the network can simultaneously harden security and lie radically by anchoring the Mainnet in cryptography based on the hash and restructuring of the three protocol sub-letters, which are consensus, data and execution.
The co-founder Ethereum Vitalik Buterin and Drake recently discussed the concept during an ETH-focused event in Berlin.
Strong mode and stupid mode
Drake’s security thesis underlines that Ethereum must operate for decades, even centuries, under contradictory conditions.
According to the roadmap, “if the Internet is in place, Ethereum is in place” is the objective. On performance, Lean Ethereum targets approximately 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) on the maint maint via an aggressive vertical scaling and around 1 million TP on layer 2 (L2) blocks via a large horizontal scale.
He added that the activation of “Moon-Math” is no longer ambitious, suggesting virtual zero knowledge machines in real time (ZKVMS) for the execution and data availability sampling (DAS) for data flow.
An additional conviviality objective is full chain verification on consumption devices, such as browsers, phones and wallets.
Three “lean” sub-layers
Lean Ethereum offers coordinated upgrades on three different layers. The first is “Lean Consensus” or the 2.0 tag chain, focused on the tightening of the chain of beacons for maximum safety and decentralization, with an almost instantry purpose measured in a few seconds.
Lean Data (Blobs 2.0) is the second layer. The objective is to allow post-quantum “blobs” with granular dimensioning to preserve a developer experience of the Calldata type while increasing the flow.
Finally, Lean Execution (EVM 2.0) consists of a set of minimal and friendly instructions which preserves the EVM compatibility and the effects of the network but accelerates prouvance and verification.
Together, these changes aim to provide “abundance of performance” under non -negotiable continuity and simplicity constraints.
Crypto based on hash as standard fabric
Lean Ethereum treats the hash function as the fundamental primitive through layers. Global signatures in the supplanting consensus Boneh-Lynn-Shacham (BLS), the commitments based on the chopping replacing Kate, Zaverucha and Goldberg (KZG) in the data layer and the verification of the execution of the ZKVMS focused on the HASH.
The approach is designed for the test of quantum adversaries simultaneously while harmonizing with the rapid rise of snarks through the battery.
Drake said Lean Ethereum is as much an engineering aesthetic as a roadmap. The concept is based on minimal modules, encapsulated complexity, formal verification and proven safety and optimality.
The emphasis on “Lean Craft” aims to cut the complexity of the inheritance while standardizing on primitives which are easier to reason and check.
