Stable Euro Market Doubles to $680 Million One Year After MiCA

The euro stablecoin market has seen a sharp rebound in the year since the European Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation came into force, doubling in size as new rules for issuers came online.

Key points to remember:

  • The euro stablecoin market has doubled since the deployment of MiCA, reaching a market capitalization of approximately $680 million.
  • Growth is concentrated on large issuers like EURS, EURC and EURCV, with trading volumes increasing almost ninefold.
  • Public interest is increasing across the EU, a sign of growing adoption.

According to Decta’s 2025 Euro Stablecoin Trends Report, the sector’s market capitalization has surged from last year’s crisis, reversing a 48% contraction and outpacing the 26% growth rate of the broader stablecoin market.

Euro Stablecoins Reached $680 Million After MiCA

Decta’s report states that euro-denominated stablecoins surged to around $500 million in May 2025 following the rollout of MiCA in June 2024, a change attributed to clearer issuer obligations and standardized reserve rules.

Today, the market is worth around $680 million, according to CoinGecko. However, the market is still tiny compared to the nearly $300 billion locked in US dollar-backed tokens, a space dominated by USDT and USDC.

Much of the growth has come from a handful of notable issuers. Stasis’ EURS recorded the largest expansion, climbing 644% to $283.9 million in October 2025.

Circle’s EURC and Société Générale’s EURCV also saw significant increases as regulated issuers began to capitalize on MiCA’s clarity around custody, reserves and public disclosures.

On-chain activity has increased alongside market capitalization. The monthly trading volume for euro stablecoins increased almost nine-fold to $3.83 billion after the implementation of MiCA, according to the report.

EURC and EURCV led the rise, with volumes up 1,139% and 343%, supported by increased use of cross-border payments, fiat on-ramps and crypto trading pairs, areas previously dominated by dollar stablecoins.

The regulatory change also appears to be boosting public interest. Decta saw strong increases in search activity in EU markets, including a 400% jump in Finland and a tripling in Italy.

Interest has also increased in smaller economies, suggesting broader consumer awareness as euro-denominated tokens begin to play a clearer role in the European digital asset landscape.

Poland remains the last EU state without MiCA rules

As reported, Poland’s efforts to align its crypto sector with the EU’s MiCA framework collapsed after lawmakers failed to override President Karol Nawrocki’s veto of a major digital assets bill.

The vote fell short of the required three-fifths majority, leaving Poland as the only EU member without a national MiCA-style regulatory regime and forcing the government to restart the legislative process.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk had argued that the bill was necessary for national security, warning that unregulated crypto activity had become a conduit for money laundering and foreign interference, including secret financing linked to Russia and Belarus.

Authorities have linked these concerns to several recent security incidents, including alleged sabotage plots in Poland that were allegedly funded by cryptocurrencies.

The veto intensified political tensions between Nawrocki and Tusk’s pro-EU coalition.

The president rejected the bill on the grounds that it exceeded EU requirements and posed risks to civil liberties and property rights.
