Veronaformerly known as XION, today announced its official name change alongside an $18.5 million fundraising announcement from flagship product, EarnOS. Also going live today is the launch of their new consumer product, ero, built on the Verona platform, along with a $30 million brand spend. The rebranding marks the company’s evolution from a Web3 infrastructure provider to a verification and intelligence layer for AI agents.
For years, XION has been developing technology to make cryptography disappear, thereby bridging web2 and web3. The mission has always been to restore trust on the Internet: fast, easy-to-use, intuitive verification to rely on. With the rise of AI, this mission is expanding.
“Verona is about truth,” said Anthony Anzalone, founder and CEO of Verona. “We have always been committed to creating an Internet where the truth is verifiable, portable, programmable and private. AI is the next place where this matters most.”
Verona is the intelligence layer for AI
AI is the next technological frontier, but true agentic intelligence has not yet arrived. One of the main obstacles is the lack of verified data for AI agents. Either it resides in a recheck pile that rechecks the same person for each application, or it is discarded after a single use. Either way, the agent cannot reuse it, and each new application, broker, and violation repeats the same work.
Verona is built to solve this problem. The platform verifies a fact, once the user owns it, and any authorized AI agent can reuse it, without the data ever being exposed or rechecked unnecessarily.
The big picture
Verona is taking the success of its verification technology and applying it to one of the fastest growing industries. The implications extend to all sectors and daily life. Imagine an AI agent that can refill a prescription on your behalf, or a rental or mortgage application that instantly verifies your income, without you having to repeatedly share sensitive documents. These use cases represent the near-term future that Verona’s technology is designed to power.
