Young, wealthy investors are abandoning advisors that don’t offer crypto, survey finds

A growing share of young, affluent Americans are abandoning financial advisors who don’t provide access to crypto, according to new survey data that highlights a growing generation gap in wealth management.

Key points to remember:

  • Thirty-five percent of young, wealthy U.S. investors have already withdrawn money from advisors who don’t offer crypto exposure.
  • Institutional adoption by companies like BlackRock and Fidelity has boosted confidence.
  • 92% of investors surveyed want access to a broader range of digital assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

A study released Wednesday by crypto payments company Zerohash surveyed 500 U.S. investors aged 18 to 40 with annual incomes between $100,000 and $1 million.

The results showed that 35% have already withdrawn money from advisors who don’t offer crypto exposure, and more than half of those transfers involved between $250,000 and $1 million.

Institutional Adoption Boosts Young Investors’ Confidence in Crypto

This trend reflects how quickly crypto has moved from fringe status to mainstream for young investors.

Zerohash noted that more than four-fifths of respondents said their confidence in digital assets had increased as major financial institutions, including BlackRock, Fidelity and Morgan Stanley, had adopted the sector over the past year.

Investors at the higher end of the income scale appear to be the most impatient. Among respondents making $500,000 or more, half said they had already changed advisors due to the lack of crypto offerings.

The survey also highlighted robust demand ahead: 84% plan to increase their cryptocurrency holdings over the next 12 months, and almost half say they intend to “significantly increase their allocations.”

Zerohash said the findings show that crypto has become “essential to modern portfolio strategy” and warned that wealth advisors who do not adapt could lose clients to platforms offering broader access to digital assets.

“Advisors who adapt early can strengthen client loyalty and capture new growth, while those who delay risk falling behind,” the firm said.

Respondents were clear about their expectations: they want crypto to be integrated into their existing wallets, with secure custody and compliant access.

Demand goes beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Ninety-two percent said access to a wider range of digital assets is important, a trend reflected in the growing menu of exchange-traded products tied to altcoins such as Solana, XRP and Dogecoin.

Staking Products Gain Momentum

Asset managers are increasingly rolling out more complex offerings, including staking-based products that generate a yield for users who stake tokens.

BlackRock also appears to be preparing to enter this market, filing this week for an Ether ETF staked in Delaware.

Meanwhile, 21Shares has launched its new 21Shares Solana ETF (TSOL) on the CBOE, giving US investors direct exposure to the SOL spot price without holding the token themselves.

The fund debuted with $100 million in assets under management, joining a growing wave of Solana-focused products entering the U.S. market.

TSOL follows previous 21Shares launches in the US, including its ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (now over $8 billion in assets under management) and its Ethereum spot ETF.

The company already manages the world’s largest Solana ETP in Europe, with over $1 billion in assets.

With Fidelity, Bitwise, VanEck and Grayscale also launching into Solana spot products, the segment has attracted more than $420 million in inflows, highlighting the growing demand for institutional-grade SOL exposure.
